more than
an athlete
Success on a college team depends on multiple factors. Being a skilled athlete is just one part of this equation. Like it or not, college coaches care about athlete's size, performance in the classroom and their overall team attitude.
Height and Weight
-
The driving idea behind our evaluation is transparency. If you want to have an honest assessment of your chances to move on to the next level, you need to understand that one's height and weight are a big determining factor when it comes to college recruiting.
GPA
-
Higher GPA correlates to more academic scholarship which means better overall financial package for the athlete. College coaches prefer players with higher GPA because that is also an indicator that players will remain academically eligible to stay in the pool and play water polo.
Strategical Awareness and Coachability
-
Water polo is a team sport and athletes have to be able to fit into a team concept. Once athletes move on to college level, they will have to accept their role on a team that is filled with other great players. Athletes who adjust fast to different strategies will rise above the athletes who are trying to win the game on their own.
